Living in and around Albany NY, we’re fortunate to be so close to New England Ski Resorts, often within an hours’ drive. Sandwiched between Massachussets and Vermont, it’s often faster and easier to hit up ski resorts in adjacent states than it is to ski in New York.
Capital Region residents are within a short drive from many of the Northeast’s finest ski resorts, and within day trip distance from skiing anywhere in New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and much of Vermont . Even the outer reaches of New England are an option for a weekend ski trip.
And New England is home to some of the best ski resorts in the United States, with a wide range of terrains and trails suitable for skiers of all levels. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced skier, you’ll find plenty of options to satisfy your thirst for adventure in the stunning landscape of New England.

Ski Deals
January is Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month, where retailers and resorts offer all kinds of special incentives to help you discover the sport. Look for ski deals from individual states or directly from ski resorts.
Got a kid in 4th Grade? You’re in luck. Sign ’em up in the NY 4th Grade Ski & Ride Program and they ski free at participating ski mountains. Similar programs are available across the USA: Vermont’s 5th Grade Passport; and New Hampshire’s 4th and 5th Grade Passport.
Bear in mind that these passport programs open up for registration by early fall, and in some states, they do run out.
Spring is the best time, and often the only time, to get reasonably priced Season Passes either directly at a ski resort, or with multi-mountain access. Storm Skiing Journal maintains the BIG LIST of Season Passes around the nation, do check it out, it’s a great resource.
