Street Fairs Satisfy Even The Finickiest Palates

One of the easiest ways to please the whole family when visiting New York City is to stop at a street fair. Cheap eats, bargains, street entertainment -  city street fairs have it all.

On a recent weekend visit to the Big Apple, I explored the Children of the World Festival along 6th Avenue between 42nd and 56th Street with a notoriously hard-to-please individual, my eleven-year-old son.

Evidently, there were enough gastronomic temptations to tempt even his finicky palate.

By the time we neared the uptown edge of the fair, at 56th street, he was sufficiently sated to stand and watch the street performers, actually preferring these to the considerably more expensive Broadway shows.

And I was too full to even think about eating another morsel! “No more food!” I told the Cookie Monster.

From May through December, you can find at least one street fair each weekend in New York City, and often more than one, listed on the New York City Street Fair Schedule.
