Even though I’ve covered every inch of the Capital Region with my trusty Chevy Suburban, I’m still navigationally challenged. So, when I was asking my friend, Gina Martin, how to get to an event in Greene County, it was soon obvious to her that I had no clue how far it was, or even in what general direction to head.
Fortunately, Gina is a kind and generous soul who has offered to set me straight. Not only is she going to help me find Greene County, but she has offered to share her vast knowledge with all our readers.
Albany Kid welcomes Gina Martin to our blogroll! She will be sharing fun and cheap things to do in Greene County.
While Greene County is very close to Albany (on the southern border of Albany County, actually), I’ve found that most Capital Region friends tend to be unfamiliar with what Greene has to offer in the way of recreation and culture. We’re not far away at all, and very easy to get to via the NY State Thruway.
One great way to get acquainted is to try out a Greene Card from Greene Tourism. The Greene Card is free, and gives a 2-for-1 discount on weekday admission to top attractions such as Hunter and Windham mountains for skiing, Zoom Flume water park, and nine golf courses, year round. The Greene Card also is accepted at the new Zipline Adventures for their Mid-Mountain or Tower Adventure tours, a great deal since the regular price for the Mid-Mountain tour is $89 per person.
Signup is free via an online form. The card will be sent by regular mail, one per address. There are some restrictions, which are noted in detail on the Greene Tourism site, which also has links to the individual locations.
For more information, and to sign up for your FREE Catskills card and receive midweek Buy One, Get One Free offers at some of Greene County’s premier attractions go to www.greenetourism.com/greene-card.
