Foodie Delights at Oscar’s Adirondack Smoke House

A trip to the Lake George area is never complete with a stop at Oscar’s Smoke House in Warrensburg, NY.  Just a short drive north of the Lake George Village, Oscar’s is a haven for foodies who crave smoked meats and cheeses.  Tucked away on a small hilltop off Route 9 you’ll find the iconic pig and you’ll know you’re there.

First opened in 1943, this family owned and operated business has gone through various changes. Oscar’s rebuilt itself  (twice) as fires caused massive destruction in 1946 and most recently in 2009 in which the entire building was destroyed.  Through an outpouring of support from customers and the community, Oscar’s rebuilt an “eco-friendly”, 9,000 square foot building on the same location.  Although the wonderful smoked smell is gone with the improvements of the new building, there’s now more room to store and display Oscar’s specialty items including Adirondack Maple Syrup, preserves and mustards.

Rachel Ray, native to the southern Adirondacks, has gushed about the meats at Oscar’s on her shows on several occasions as well.

Our family favorite is the Petite Smoked Ham, precooked and smoked to perfection, this is a staple item to keep in the freezer and reheat or grill on chaotic weeknights.  We recently introduced the almost 2 year old Dude to smoked Gouda and as expected, he housed it down.

If you are looking for gastronomical treats to take home after a trip to the southern Adirondacks, pack a cooler and stop by Oscar’s Smoke House.

Try it!
