Clowning Around with Ringling Bros.

Yesterday I had the pleasure of accompanying local media celebrity, Kelly of Albany Mommy, to Clown College.

Yes, there really is a Clown College; in fact, Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Clown College has been located in four venues over the years: in Venice, FL; at Circus World Museum in Baraboo, WI; at the Opera House in Sarasota, FL; and in Japan. And now, for a very special event with fifteen children from the Make a Wish Northeast New York Chapter, Clown College came to the Times Union Center in Albany.

Master clowns Joel Jeske and Mike Richter led the class, pairing celebrities with children, before teaching them tricks.

I was there as a photographer, not to learn how to clown around. But I have to admit that the joy was contagious. You should have seen the ear-to-ear grins and on the kids too!

The circus will show May 5-8 at the Times Union Center in Albany, and you can purchase tickets here.

Oh my goodness what an amazing community outreach for Ringling to do. Love the photos that you took and shared. Kelly made a great clown! Benita Zahn looked like she was a blast with the child she paired up with.

This looks like it was so much fun Sandra! I would have loved to have seen Kelly clowning around. The best part is it looks like everyone had a great time. Really sorry I missed it!
