Polar Express TicketsAlbany Kid is giving away 4 coach tickets on the Saratoga & North Creek Railway Polar Express!

Albany Kid is giving away 4 coach tickets to a November weekday Polar Express ride from the Saratoga Railway Station. If your family has never experienced the Polar Express, now is your chance!

All Aboard! The Polar Express comes to life this holiday season as the Saratoga & North Creek Railway rolls out of the station bound for the “North Pole!” Come early and climb aboard with your family to cozy-up and enjoy our festively-decorated vintage train cars. Dancing chefs deliver hot chocolate and a cookie to each guest to savor while music from the Polar Express movie plays en route to the North Pole.

Make sure to have your tickets handy, because your conductor will be by shortly to punch each child’s ticket. Before arriving at the North Pole, the iconic book, The Polar Express is read as your Chef turns the pages to share the beautiful illustrations in the original book. With the station far away, The Polar Express magically arrives at the outskirts of Santa’s North Pole village, where Santa Claus himself and his elves joyously welcome the train!

As you stay comfortably settled and warm in your seat, Santa and his helper elf board the train! During the return trip, Santa will greet each child with his signature holiday spirit and the first gift of Christmas: a bell cut from his sleigh. It is said that only children and those who still believe can actually hear the bell ring. Join in the singing as your Chef or Conductor lead Christmas caroling on the 30-minute return trip.

For those wanting the magic to last or to do a little Christmas shopping, visit the gift shop in the station for special Polar Express gifts and merchandise. Oh, one last thing, children are encouraged to wear their PJ’s; adults who still believe have been known to wear them, too! All Aboard!

My family’s favorite holiday tradition? Well, that’s probably as simple as spending Xmas day with our family. From breakfast and presents with 20 or so people at Great Grams to dinner and playing with our new goodies at “Amma’s” it’s a day filled with family.

Kathy November 8, 2012 at 2:21 pm

we don’t really have an established family tradition yet. It is just myself and my little one who is just two so looking forward to establishing some.

We did do the holiday lights in Washington park last year in the horse drawn carriage. This might become our tradition if I can keep affording it!! 🙂

Kathy November 8, 2012 at 2:24 pm

also, I liked you, I really liked you! 🙂

My son is only 3 and a half, but we have turned the Christmas Tree hunting the favorite time of the season… although setting up the train under the tree is second and I’m sure will take the lead spot this year!

“Liked” the FB page, LOVE the ideas you have. Favorite holiday tradition: Announcing when we see a kissing ball, done in a similar spirit to when we (adults) used to announce punch bugs. Any serious conversation in my car will be briefly paused if someone yells out “Kissing ball!”. I love it. (It changes to lawn jockey’s in the summer).

I have subscribed to the Albany Kid newsletter. This site ranks high for when I am free on a weekend and need something fun to do.

Thanks for doing the legwork for busy parents!

Q: “What is your family’s favorite holiday tradition?”

A: Favorite Family Holiday Tradition is a toss up between decorating the whole house and baking cookies to give to our friends and family. We do a lot of fun family things throughout the month to celebrate the holiday.

Laurie Kozerski November 9, 2012 at 11:26 am

My little ones are still young so we don’t have much in the way of family traditions yet. Every year, the day after thanksgiving, we gather ’round and put up the tree. There’s Christmas music and hot chocolate. One Christmas eve, the kidlets are allowed to open one present each. And then on Christmas day, after everything’s been opened and poked at to make sure it works or fits (if its clothes) The husband and I sit down with the kids and we spend the day together playing with the new toys, reading books, or watching Christmas movies. Like I said, we still have little ones, and we just moved from IL where the last few holiday seasons there hasn’t been a lot of snow to go out and build snowmen and have snowball fights. I’m hoping for snow this year so we can add that to our Christmas day tradition.

Laurie Kozerski November 9, 2012 at 11:29 am

And I have subscribed to you via e-mail. So that makes 3 out of 4 chances to win this awesome trip.

Favorite holiday tradition, playing Yule log and Xmas music while unwrapping all our favorite ornaments.

Aaren Harris November 9, 2012 at 6:01 pm

I don’t have any kids of my own yet. I am not allowed to celebrate “Christmas” at Head Start where I teach, but we talk about snow, love, friends and wonder around the holidays. I would give the tickets to a family that could never ever afford it.

Meghan November 9, 2012 at 6:17 pm

I just went ahead and “liked” you on facebook. Our favorite holiday tradition that we started last year was the Elf on the Shelf. Cracks me up that all I have to do is say Elf to get my preschooler to shape up fast!

We have so many traditions it is so hard to choose. My husband and I have attended the Schenectady Christmas parade together for the last ten years. It has become even more enjoyable the last several years with our two kids. We go there with our chairs, hot chocolate and Italian cookies. The holiday season does not start until this parade.
I liked on Facebook, subscribed to the email and tweeted.
Thanks

I have been a fan of you page for a while now. Not only did I like you page I shared it on my page and with my friends. For the past few years we would go to Quick Response’s Christmas Light Show. Last year it was very crowded and my son had his hat stolen. I think it is time to start a new tradition! Maybe the polar express would be great for a few years! This is a wonderful give away my kids have never been! Thank You!

I liked you on FB now that I know about you! Excited to see what Albany Kid is all about! Our favorite family tradition is watching Polar Express before my lil’ boy lays his head to rest and dream of the magic of Christmas. Thanks for the opportunity to win! We’ve been dreaming of this train ride for a few years now, just can’t afford it. Best of luck to all and Happy Holidays!

megan November 10, 2012 at 7:24 pm

Just became a fan! My favorite holiday is christmas eve. Since we were younger my family would go to church and then everyone would gather together at my family’s house and we would make ton’s of appetizer foods. It was always an exciting evening with everybody dressed up and waiting for santa to come and everyone get’s to open one present. I still do this with my daughter!

Joyce November 10, 2012 at 9:08 pm

I followed all the instructions. We usually put up the tree a few days before Christmas and the kids put all the ornaments on it. I would love to take the twins on their first train ride for this! It would be awesome for them!

Dorothy November 10, 2012 at 9:34 pm

*Liked “AlbanyKid”…..done
*Hoping we win the Polar Express tix…..doing it
*Looking for the “Elf on the Shelf” (or wherever he may be) in our house each morning, for a few weeks leading up to Christmas, each year….looking forward to doing it!!!! 😉

Audrey November 11, 2012 at 12:43 am

Our favorite tradition is decorating the tree, and leaving a note and treats for Santa and his reindeer.

Sarah November 11, 2012 at 7:58 am

Have been flowing you on FB and emails for some time.
We love writing to Santa and asking if we may borrow one of his elves to visit us at Chrsitmas. The elf usually arrives the day we get our tree and gets up to all sorts of mischief before returning to help Santa on Christmas Eve.

Shannon November 11, 2012 at 8:38 am

My family’s favorite holiday decorating the tree, we make it an all day event, lots of pictures of My 4 and 6 year old boys putting ornaments on the tree and being silly. And once thats done, the elf on the shelf always starts to appear for them to keep and eye on.

Mary November 11, 2012 at 1:43 pm
