Imagine traveling around the world, but never leaving your neighborhood. For the second year, Michaels will be running a summer enrichment program centered around crafts. From June 19 to July 28, families can head to their local Michaels each Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday to travel around the world with the Passport to Imagination from the Knack.

2012 Michaels Passport to Imagination Book

For each country that you travel to during your Passport to Imagination visit, children will be able to make and take two items. In addition to this, there is a suggested take-home project that families may opt to do together. Some days are completely free, while a few days do require a minimal purchase. Within the passport books, you learn about the countries, their culture, and then make items that represent them. My eight year old son already loves to go back home and learn more about what Michaels has introduced to him. You could easily extend the enrichment at home with more reading, writing, crafting, and beyond.

Summer is a great time to keep the learning and enrichment activities going, even if you are not traveling near or far. Remember that kids of all ages adore hands on activities that will make them want to know more about the world around them. Thanks to Michaels, this is a great resource for families to head to in June and July. Who knows, perhaps this will help your family to plan a vacation to a new destination that you never had dreamed of before.
