LogoColorTextBelowOutdoor mall opening on May 22 in Malta offers youth groups and nonprofits new fundraising opportunities.

(Press Release) Starting May 22, 2011, the Malta Drive-In Market will operate each Sunday on the grounds of the Malta Drive-In on Route 9 in Malta, NY from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM.

The Market’s objective is to provide a new and accessible outlet for local artisans, craftsmen and farmers, as well as antique and collectibles dealers. “The Market will not be a typical “flea market”; we are proactively seeking vendors that have something creative and inspired to offer to our customers”, said Mike Thompson, owner and manager of the Malta Drive-In Market.

In addition, the Market will incorporate a unique element for local charities, schools, civic groups and non-profit organizations. “Every group that wishes to assist the Malta Drive-In Market will simply handle admissions and parking duties and will receive 100% of all admission revenue from each event” said Thompson. Admission to the Market is $3 per car.

“With the rise in gas prices and the growing “buy local” trend gaining momentum, the Market offers a fun, outdoor alternative to the shopping mall” said Ed Caro, co-owner of the Malta Drive-In. “The Drive-In concession and bathroom facilities will be open as well, so shoppers and vendors alike will certainly enjoy the experience”.

The Market is currently booking vendor spaces, and will have up 50-100 vendors for the grand opening on May 22.
