Have you wondered how some writers turn a passion for blogging into a career? Do you dream about promoting your cause or small business? Would you like to find out how to reach more readers, earn an income from your blog, or even how to start a blog?
If you look closely, you will find that behind every highly successful blog, there is a team that may include a supportive spouse, contributors, virtual assistants, SEO experts, and any of a number of specialists. But what do you do when you can’t afford to hire an army of assistants?
The secret to turning a blog from a creative outlet or family scrapbook into a a powerful medium is in collaboration.
Bloggy Boot Camp – Philadelphia 2010
Although I have been blogging since 2007, last fall I was still a rookie trying to figure out how to make a career out of my passion. Fast forward nine months, and this venture is starting to generate an income as well as other rewards.
Some of this success is the result of a foundation laid over four years of blogging and social networking, but I believe that the most dramatic improvement came about when I started to attend mom blog conferences.
In August, I went to the Big Kahuna of mom blog conferences, BlogHer in New York City. It was HUGE and more than a little overwhelming. I learned a lot, but it was almost too much, to the point that I’m still trying to unravel all that I absorbed over a long weekend of workshops, seminars, and parties.
The next month, I headed to Philadelphia for a Bloggy Boot Camp. This was a shorter, one-day event, in a more intimate setting where I sat next to some of the most popular and controversial bloggers in the nation. It was an opportunity to learn basic and advanced blog and social media techniques, but also to connect with experienced, successful bloggers and also with PR and brands.
Beyond blogging careers, I highly recommend the Bloggy Boot Camp Conference because the tips that you can pick up on social media strategy will benefit anyone looking to stay current and employed moving forward.
Bloggy Boot Camp – Boston 2011
The Secret To Success is Support is the fundamental belief driving Bloggy Boot Camp conferences, one day blog and social media conference for women hosted in major cities all around the U.S. This spring, Bloggy Boot Camp will be hosted in Boston, just a short daytrip from anywhere in the Capital Region.
When: May 7, 2011, 9 AM to 5 PM
Where: Seaport Hotel in Boston, Massachusetts
Tickets include lunch and education, and for those in town on Friday night, there is a cocktail reception from 7:30 to 9:30 pm.
The Best Part:
“During the conference, we will be discussing all things social media, from blogging to Twitter to branding to more. But the best part? Meeting fabulous women who “get” what we do. Attendees include new bloggers to social media mavens. Everyone is welcome.”
The Giveaway
It’s my honor to give one lucky reader a ticket to Bloggy Boot Camp – Boston 2011. Early bird tickets are gone, and the conference is almost sold out, so we are very fortunate to have this opportunity. I want to give it to someone who truly gets how important it is to support bloggers.
Supporting a blog is as simple as letting them know that you care. So often, bloggers get little or no feedback unless they are controversial. Those that are trying to be a positive resource are usually the last to receive any feedback. And let me tell you, it’s hard to write day after day not knowing if anyone is listening.
Entering this giveaway is all about supporting bloggers!

I attended the Tech Valley Tweetup tonight at Colonie Center. It was nice meeting fellow bloggers. I have been blogging for over two years, and podcasting for almost one year. I am interested in learning more about the mechanics of creating more presence, without sacrificing my simple goal of raising awareness about stuttering and giving women who stutter a voice.
Just added a follow to @bloggybootcamp. I love the idea of social media support for women.
Okay, it appears I missed you not only in Philly but Boston too? BUMMER. Next time, please!
