Looking for a way to celebrate the Chinese New Year in the Capital Region? Take the kids out for Dim Sum.
Was it by chance or destiny that we stumbled onto the new Dim Sum Happy Hours at P.F. Chang’s? I suspect the whisper of a Wood Dragon.
It was late in the afternoon when I heard a chorus of stomach rumbles from my kids while we perused the stacks at Barnes & Noble at Colonie Center. We were beyond hungry, and since my husband planned a late work night, there was no reason to wait to dine, not with so many restaurants and a food court nearby.
Tropical Green Tea, Condiments, and the Dim Sum Order Form
At 4PM on a Tuesday, P.F. Chang’s was practically empty, and we were soon seated. Our waitress gave us a form to fill in our orders, with the idea being that we could add to it as we went along. A fine idea, if I wasn’t a compulsive over-orderer.
The first, of several, food tray deliveries.
For a party of three, we ordered: three kinds of dumplings (3 per order), Flaming Red Wontons, Chang’s Vegetarian Lettuce Wraps, three kinds of Kogi Asian Tacos, Shanghai Street Dumplings, Egg Rolls, and Spring Rolls. We ate well, very well, and still had plenty left for another hearty family-of- four meal. The final tab came in under $75, not too shabby.
My personal favorite, the ultra spicy Flaming Red Wontons.
And, since we were too full to eat desert until later, we headed to the food court where we hand picked our favorites from the delectable selection of Bettie’s Cupcakes.
P.F. Chang’s Dim Sum Happy Hours are 3PM-6PM everyday, for a limited time, and dine in only.
