"Bettie, you are my sunshine!" Cupcakes On Wheels

by

bettie Cupcakes are yummy, but cupcakes on wheels are divine.

I’ve been following Bettie’s Cakes on Facebook, wondering when she would roll into town. My Cadette Girl Scouts, a/k/a Team Candy, were dying to cap off their their middle school exploits with a grand finale on the cupcake bus.

When we discovered that the cupcake bus was practically next door in Delmar, we were on our way.  We found the bus parked in front of Hewitt’s, and despite the steady stream of customers, there was no wait.

bettie2 At the counter, choosing amongst the many options of sugary goodness was surprisingly easy.  A few girls went with the gold standards, vanilla or chocolate.  My daughter picked out a cupcake with blue frosting and marshmallows (no clue as to the flavor!) and I ordered the classic red velvet.

bettie3 We ate our treats in the sky deck, a spacious setting with tables and chairs for 28, where the girls giggled over their deserts.  Afterwards, we picked up a six-pack for friends, and a very special “Puppie Cuppie” treat for Yoohoo.

Bettie’s  Double Decker Cupcake Stand was everything we were looking for, and more.  Teen Daughter was so enamored of the whole setup, that she asked for an internship.

And where was Betty? Well, it turns out that all the women who work the counter get known as “Betty.”

Love reading about all of your adventures recently. I have to admit that I am jealous. We have been curious about cupcakes from Bettie since we splurged and tried Coccadotts a few weeks ago. Guess we will have to try another time.
