Occasionally, I run across a blog that is so inspiring that it qualifies for the “A List” on my Google Reader. Jackie Donnelly’s Saratoga Woods and Waterways would make it into the list if only for the vivid close-ups of our native flora, with the accompanying identifying information.
More than that, I like her enthusiasm for the beauty of nature in all seasons and under all conditions, and love her appreciation for the marvels that are in our own backyard:
For more than a dozen years I’ve been wandering the woods and waterways of Saratoga County, New York, looking closely, listening carefully. We are blessed in this county with an amazing amount of wilderness right at hand. With this blog I will share a year of adventuring here, seeking out what wonders await in my own Madagascar close to home.
I wish I was free this weekend to meet Jackie Donnelly in person when she leads a wildflower walk!
